Neeva i-Size Infant Capsules: Models, ISOFIX Bases & Travel Systems

Choosing a newborn capsule can be confusing when several models look similar but use different bases and stroller adapters. Babyonline’s Neeva i-Size infant capsule range includes two different capsule families. Both meet the ECE R129 (i-Size) European safety standard, but the capsule moulds, compatible ISOFIX bases and travel-system options are different.

The two Neeva i-Size capsule families are:

  • NB1, NB01 and NBG1 capsules – these models share the same capsule mould and use the matching Neeva i-Size ISOFIX base for NB1, NB01 and NBG1. They can also be attached to the Neeva Carina stroller frame using the appropriate capsule adapters to create a travel system.

  • IC377 capsules – these have a different capsule shape and use the separate BIS377 ISOFIX base. IC377 capsules can be attached to the Neeva Forte stroller frame using the appropriate adapters to create a travel system.

The two ISOFIX bases are not interchangeable. If you are buying a capsule and base separately, it is important to choose the base designed for your particular capsule model.

Both capsule families are available with a compatible ISOFIX base option, making it possible to leave the base installed in the vehicle and click the capsule in and out as required.

This guide explains the differences between the Neeva i-Size capsule models, which ISOFIX base fits each one, which stroller they are compatible with, and what to consider when choosing the best option for your family.

Which Neeva i-Size Infant Capsule Do I Have?

NB1, NB01 and NBG1 Capsules

The NB1, NB01 and NBG1 models use the same capsule mould, with different colour and trim options. They use the same matching Neeva ISOFIX base and can be connected to the Neeva Carina stroller frame using the G16 adapter set.

These capsules have:

  • rear-facing use from 40–87 cm
  • 6 adjustable headrest and harness positions
  • a 3-point harness
  • removable newborn support
  • a 4-position carry handle
  • approximate capsule dimensions: 71 cm long × 44 cm wide × 39 cm high (without canopy)
  • capsule weight of approximately 4.6 kg

IC377 Capsules

The IC377 range uses a different capsule mould to NB family. This family includes the Black/Grey IC377 as well as the Royal Fawn IC377 colour versions.

IC377 capsules use the separate BIS377 ISOFIX base and can be connected to the Neeva Forte stroller frame using the appropriate Forte adapters.

These capsules have:

  • rear-facing use from 40–87 cm
  • 5 adjustable headrest and harness positions
  • a 3-point harness
  • removable newborn support
  • a 4-position carry handle
  • approximate capsule dimensions: 70 cm long × 44 cm wide × 30 cm high (without canopy)
  • capsule weight of approximately 4.3 kg

What Does 40–87 cm Mean?

R129 restraints use the child’s height as an important part of determining whether the restraint is suitable.

For both Neeva capsule families, the approved height range is 40–87 cm. Your baby can continue using the capsule while they remain within the limits specified for that particular model and fit correctly in the restraint.

Age estimates can be useful as a rough guide, but babies grow at very different rates. Height and the individual restraint instructions are more important than age alone when deciding whether your baby has outgrown the capsule.

When your baby eventually outgrows the infant capsule, they do not need to move straight to forward-facing. The next step can be a larger rear-facing convertible car seat that accommodates a taller child.

Important: The ISOFIX Bases Are Different

The two base systems are not interchangeable.

If your capsule is an NB1, NB01 or NBG1, use the ISOFIX (NB) base specifically designed for those models. NB Capsules and Base

If your capsule is an IC377, including an IC377 Royal Fawn model, use the BIS377 ISOFIX base. IC377 Capsules and Base

If you already own a capsule and are buying a base separately, check the model number on the capsule before ordering rather than choosing the base by appearance alone.

Buying a Capsule With or Without an ISOFIX Base

Both Neeva i-Size capsule families can be purchased with or without their compatible ISOFIX base.

Both installation options are safe when used correctly and according to the capsule manufacturer’s instructions:

  • Without a base: the capsule is installed directly using the vehicle seatbelt.
  • With a compatible ISOFIX base: the base remains installed in the vehicle and the capsule can be clicked in and removed as needed.

The main advantage of the ISOFIX base is convenience, as you do not need to reinstall the capsule with the seatbelt each time you put it back into the vehicle.

Whichever option you choose, always use the installation method approved for your specific capsule model and make sure the restraint is fitted correctly.

Which Neeva Stroller Works With Each Capsule?

Both Neeva i-Size capsule families can be used as part of a travel system, but they connect to different stroller frames and use different adapters.

When using the capsule on the stroller, the normal pram seat is removed from the stroller frame. The capsule adapters are fitted to the frame, and the infant capsule then attaches directly to the stroller frame in place of the pram seat.

This means you can move your baby from the car to the stroller frame without taking them out of the capsule.

NB1, NB01 and NBG1 With the Carina Stroller

The NB1, NB01 and NBG1 capsules can attach to the Neeva Carina stroller frame using the G16 capsule adapters.

To use the Carina as a travel system, remove the Carina pram seat from the frame, fit the G16 adapters, and attach the capsule directly to the stroller frame.

IC377 With the Forte Stroller

The IC377 capsule family can attach to the Neeva Forte stroller frame using the appropriate Forte capsule adapters.

The Forte pram seat is removed from the stroller frame first, and the IC377 capsule is then attached to the frame using the compatible adapters.

Check the Capsule Model Before Buying Adapters

The adapters are model-specific, just like the ISOFIX bases.

If you already own a capsule or stroller, check the capsule model number and stroller model before ordering adapters to make sure you are buying the correct combination.
